Back once again, at a new venue (well, not entirely), it was nice to play a set in Shields, at the excellent Engine Room. Intended vibes were rhythm & blues, garage rock, bit of mod and psych, bit of ska and funk, that kind of thing.

So Long, Prohibition bar

Prohibition Cabaret Bar in Newcastle is closing today. It's a brilliant bar. I'd been a fan since coming across it in its previous location in Gateshead (before it moved to the site of former, legendary, Jazz Cafe), and post-pandemic, I've helped put on a bunch of parties there, getting the chance to play all kinds of stuff and have a lovely time. I'll really miss it a lot.

I was honoured to be able to DJ the last Saturday it was open, playing Prohibition-era jazz and blues - aaaand some stuff that had that sound and spirit from a bit later.

This was our last themed party at Prohibition Cabaret Bar, which is sadly closing at the end of July. We'll hopefully find some other venue(s) to throw parties at, but it won't quite be the same. We've done seven of the themed parties (plus some birthdays and other stuff), raised hundreds of pounds for charities doing them - and it wouldn't have been the same without the welcoming and lovely environment of Prohibition and its lovely staff. We'll miss it. And of course, thanks to everyone who came and danced and donated, love yous, see you somewhere sometime soon x
